Billy Bob Thornton is a high school coach of the Odessa-Permian football. Where he was given the task of carrying the team at Odessa Permian country competition, to prove that Odessa is the center of power and grandeur.

Gaines became the main focus and bring a strong message in the middle of the film shows, for him football just a game. Unfortunately, the work to be done was not just a game, so he must treat it very seriously; His duty to protect the town and school, but his family that must be protected. Berg's film style is almost like a documentary. The Film was not really good but had a different perspective than most movies about sports. Although was made with little hyperbole, Berg tried to describe something that touching. In most movies about sports, always put the big game with big results as its point. But in this movie, the game was just a means to something that was really the focus.
